Eric Howard is a managing member of Howard & Jensen LLC. Mr. Howard serves as general corporate counsel and advisor to a broad range of entities and individuals in the areas of business law, business litigation and estate planning.
Representative Matters
- Successfully represented developers, owners, general contractors and designers in numerous real estate and construction cases ranging in value from $8,000 to more than $90,000,000
- Drafted and negotiated the restructuring of $20 million in subordinated debt on behalf of a manufacturer
- Achieved a complete defense judgment at trial in a breach of contract action relating to a $2 million sale of a business
- Represented terminated employee in successfully obtaining a seven-figure settlement of a claim under an executive severance policy
- Successfully asserted Colorado’s newspaper shield statute and qualified reporter’s privilege under the First Amendment on behalf of a freelance journalist to protect confidential information and resource materials
Background
Prior to the formation of Howard & Jensen LLC, Mr. Howard was a commercial litigator in the Colorado Springs and Denver offices of Hogan Lovells, an international law firm with more than 2,500 attorneys in 40 offices worldwide. Before joining Hogan Lovells, Mr. Howard practiced corporate law and civil litigation at Schiff Hardin in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Howard also served as a Public Interest Law Initiative Fellow for Lawyers for the Creative Arts in Chicago, and during law school, as a law clerk at Energizer Battery Company in St. Louis.
While in law school, Mr. Howard served as the Primary Articles Editor for the Washington University Global Studies Law Review. He received his bachelor’s degree in history from Dartmouth College, where he was a four-year letterman on the basketball team. He is currently a candidate for an advanced degree in tax law at the University of Denver’s Sturm College of Law.
Community Involvement
Mr. Howard is actively involved in the Colorado Springs community. He currently serves as Vice President of Colorado Springs Youth Sports, Inc., is a founding committee member of Koats 4 Kids and volunteers as a basketball, baseball and soccer coach at the Y.M.C.A. He is also a graduate of Leadership Pikes Peak.
